Default K&N FIPK or ls1 box with a lid?????

My car came with the k&n cold air kit with the radiator shroud and big oval open filter. My question is what is better? That or an airbox with a lid? The k&n kit is like 400$ so I imagine the previous owner spent that money for a reason but can't really find anything telling which is better.

You should be able to find some dyno results from back in the day in the dyno section - they tended to dyno better than a lid setup, but you usually dyno with the hood open which would benefit that type of intake/filter setup.

I'm not sure I would run one personally since you can seal a lid and force feed it air from underneath (can't do that with the FIPK) which has been proven to show gains in the 1/4 mile, but if you like it, just run it.
