Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 - Just picked up my second bird... got a question

So I used to have a 2002 WS6 which I stupidly got rid of a few years back. I just picked up a 01 black WS6 with 58k on her. My question is when I go to shift my shoe keeps catching on the plastic lip by the clutch pedal (it happens when my foot is on the way back up) . What is the best work around to this? I can't be the only one this happens too lol.

I took mine off. The whole plastic shield thing

can't say i ever had this problem but im sure you can take it off.
