Default Frozen North Newbie

Hello all! I'm Chris from Minnesota.
Been wanting to get my 1979 Caprice on the road once again. Can do some more than basic work. After some debate, considering a LS swap.
Going to build it as a cruiser/sleeper.
Here to get some input.

I am on a budget. So I'm thinking a LM7 with a LS6 cam. Would convert to a carburetor setup. Keep the TH350 trans. I do know that the 2.41:1 stock rear is a weak point. Wondering if a 3.08:1 gearing and 2,000 stall torque convertor would work this setup
