Default need some advice!!!

im kinda new to whole building a motor type of thing. i just recently just got a 6.0 off of a 2500hd as a gift. only thing is it has 150,000 miles and was working when was taking off. i asked around and some guys said just to be safe just overhaul it from top to bottom. after that i wanna add full bolt ons and i was wondering what things could i do to get some good # on the track by what things should i get for the motor to run strong and what kind of things am i looking at to a full complete overhaul? i would really appriciate the feedback guys thanks!

Is the block an lq4 or an lq9?? Keep in mind to that it is an iron block and is a bit heavier then a aluminum Ls block. I believe 80-100 lbs heavier.

If I wasn't on my phone I'd post more.About the rebuild.
