Default Gear oil spilled in car, what now?

So I bought a 93 nissan 240, and the seller included an LSD differential. I put it in the floor board and it leaked gear oil. Is there a way to remove it? I can't stand that smell.

mmm. Wait until Summer. It will be worse.

I did the same in my ex's Montero. It is tough to get that smell out.

I used Tide and a Bissel carpet steamer.

How big a leak? How much coverage was there? Sometimes it's easier to replace that piece of the carpet.

If it were me, I would try some Joe Gibbs degreaser, since it is safe for paint it will likely not harm the carpet. Then I would use a wet vac to pull it our of the carpet. They try a proper Landry detergent. Again using the wet vac to pull the water and soap out.

Good luck.

Try renting a carpet shampooer? You could pull the seats and use the opportunity to give the whole carpet a good cleaning.

I might just swap the carpet from my other 240 that was KIA. different color but I'm not digging the brown interior of the newest one I bought. That or Ill try the detergent and a carpet cleaner.

Some oil spilled on a small carpeted section of my trunk on my DD. It's impossible to get the oil out and I may end up just buying a new piece. I bet gear oil is even worse.
