Timing Chain Question........
I was going to do a cam swap this weekend (which has been postponed) and I wanted to replace the timing chain as well. The only local one I could find was the Cloyes Hex-A-Just. After doing a lil research, I think this set just used a stock chain. Is this true? If not, is this chain decent?
Thanks
Thanks

Timing Chains
Hi,
If the new chain has the same link thickness as the stock chain it is not the preferred setup. The Cloyes chain that I got when I bought the Hex-a-Just from Comp measured the same at the side links so I replaced it with one from Katech.
Chevy upgraded the stock chain sometime in 04 and it is also used on the LS2. I haven’t seen one but it might be better than the Cloyes.
The stock chain does not seem to have a lot of margin which is why many people change it the first time its out of the car. Chevy upgrading the LS2 chain seems to support this theory. I have observed that the aftermarket chains I have are tighter than the stock chains where with the same miles.
Good luck,
Steve
