Lightbulb Removing smaller serpentine belt/ any HP

I'm just wondering if there is a reason I shouldn't remove the short serpentine belt on my 99 Z when I go to the track tomorrow? I was laying under the car today changing my oil & it looked to me like the only thing the short belt does is turn the AC compressor. If I shut off my heater switch/AC & leave it off, is there any reason I shouldn't be able to remove the short belt?

I mean it looks to me like I might be able to pick up an extra 5-10 HP. What do you guys think, Fred

Fred,if your AC is off it takes very little power to turn the free wheeling compressor. If you were going to short belt the PS unit you would pick up a few ponies at the track.
