Default need help with pinion shim!

ok, so my old set of motive gears had a pinion depth marked as 2.292 on the pinion and the shim that was used with that set was a .031
now my new set of gears the pinion is marked 2.303 a total of .011 difference.
my question is do i add or subtract .011 from the .031 shim that was on the pinion of my old set?

are the pinion gears of the same length( from the face of the pinion to the surface where the shim sits) ? if they're different, you have to take that difference into account too.
that marked dimension is from the centerline of the carrier to the face of the pinion.

i don't have a pinion depth tool. thats why i'm just trying to get somewhere in the ballpark by using simple math.

based on the info supplied
the new pinion has to sit .011 further away from carrier centerline than the old pinion sat,.031 - .011 =.020.
since the new pinion gear section is .002 shorter,.020 + .002 = .022.

hope someone else will post in to agree/verify/dis-agree.
