Default what transmission source to use

What 4L60 have you guys used? I started looking and found differences but not what they are. F body is impossible to find so I moved onto trucks, What is the difference between ext cab and std cab in terms of the transmission? These are pretty popular but whats going to work?

I plan to re fab my crossmember and get driveshaft length changed anyway.

Is there a difference between 5.3 and 4.8? they are listed different, and 99-00 are listed same then 01+is another list???

Truck 2wd Gen III 4l60's are pretty much all the same. Pretty much any 99-2006 4.8/5.3 4l60e will work. Just there are updated internals. Newer the better.

car-part.com Search using 2003 1500 5.3L 2wd it will cross the ones that apply automatically.

Driveshaft length

The olden days of long tail/short tail transmissions are over. Now you choose between 2WD or 4WD
