Check this heads/cam Setup,give opinions
I am helping out a buddy do the heads, cam on his car.He has a 2002 camaro ss 6 speed with stock gears for now.
The cam we are gonna put in is the streetsweeper H/t cam
specs are 228/232 .612 .600 111 lsa
Im helping him out picking the parts and im gonna do the install and base tune for him.
He wants to do it once and do it right and doesnt mind getting top of the line parts.I was thinking of getting him the prc 215cc heads with 62cc chambers, and a cometic .045 head gaskets for a good quench.
with these heads and gaskets he will be at 11.18 static and 8.70 dynamic compression.I could get the heads 63cc to bring it down a touch, but would like opinions.Ptv clearance shouldnt be an issue(I will measure) but the heads provide stock clearance,so im only losing a touch with the gaskets. He already has headers,no cats and a cutout.Stock ls6 intake for now.

I think that would be a killer setup. The Street Sweeper HT cam is a proven performer and the PRC 215 heads are pretty bad ***, plus you can mill them more due to valve angles. Milling the heads to 62cc would be a good. You should still be fine on piston to valve clearance and the compression will really bring up the torque and low end power.

9:1 dynamic is pushing it for pump gas, so you should be fine, I would even look at very a slightly thinner gasket, maybe a .040" depending on how far out of the hole his pistons come...shoot for around a .030-.035" quench for your best results.
Just for your info, raising your compression 1 full point (10:1-11:1) give an average gain of 3-4% HP and torque across the whole rpm range.
Any even though the ptv should be fine, PLEASE clay it to be sure, don't want to see anyone lose an engine because one little thing was off

okay good info, the heads come 62cc without milling,im going to measure my clearances also,i always do.I will check into the cometic .040.I have seen some guys run them but i know its really pushing the limit, which i dont want to do with his engine, but i will check it out.
