Comp cams double roller
Okay so did a cam swap with double roller timing chain. Everything went on slightly smooth sump bolt is in, oil pump in spacers for the pump are in and front cover is in. My final catch is when installing the stock harmonic balancer. It goes to a certain point then stops, completely stops and it isn't all the way set, you can still see about a 1/2" on the balancer left to go in. Whats my problem?
I've read up on this issue and it seems the solution is
A) take off double throw in single chain
B) run the slp oil pump which allows double roller clearance without spacers
C) shave down front cover for whatever reason, I guess oil pump clearance
Weve installed this same setup on an ls2 and no problems, HOWEVER; he did an under drive pulley?
Please help someone I need this thing back on the road fast as its my daily.

A shorter balancer? Negative. The balancer goes to the same point everytime. I've read that some people have machined 3 mm off of the balancer just to clear.
I also just read the slp pumps description and it says it comes with spacers, I had read it comes pre- cleared for double roller chains am I incorrect on this??

No, I meant shorter oil pump drive. I have an SLP double roller chain and it came with an oil pump drive.
The SLP pump does not need spacers. It is cast with longer mounting bosses. I have one of those too.
I bought them used but both were not in good shape so I didn't use either.
For what it's worth, the shorter drive that came with the double roller is 1.17" long and the drive for the Cloyes single roller I have is 1.32" long.
I may be wrong, but I believe the balancer goes on until it hits the drive.
You might measure the distance from the drive to the end of the crank. Then measure the balancer hub depth and see if the difference is how much distance from the end of the crank to the end of the balancer (where the bolt goes) and see if that is the issue.
By the way, have you checked to see if the belts are aligned after the balancer is on? Or are you sure it went on further before?
