Default 2002 ss rear end for 1997 formula

I have a 1997 firebird formula with 3.23 gears. I'm starting the build this week and I'm gettin everything ready to support my engine plans so the motor is last but I found a 2002 rear end for 300 and I was thinking about it but is that rear end any better then my stock rear end? I plan on a about 450 horses with a 3000 or so stall and 3.73. This will b my daily driver. So is this rear end worth investing or should I keep my eye out for a 12 bolt or a 9 inch? Any advice or links to similar threads would b very helpful.

The rear end I'm looking buying is out of a 2002 ss. I meant to put that in there.

The rear will be the same strenght as the one the you have now unless your having issuses w/ yours.. If it has 3.73's and you can get it for $300 it minght be worth it... This way you will have a rear as backup.
