ABS inoperable
While running my 2002 Z28 on the jack stands to warm everything up, the ABS Inoperable light came on. Can this be reset manually or will it require a trip to dealer? Along those same lines, which programmer is the best unit to purchase that also has diagnostic capabilities? I plan on buying one soon to assist with upgrades to be made. Thanks in advance.

You can't clear the ABS Inop light by conventional means like a PCM reset or with a standard code scanner. You'll either need to identify and fix the problem (e.g. bad wheel sensor, loose wire, etc) or it will reset itself automatically once you drive it if there is no real problem. Its not uncommon for the light to come on when you run on a dyno, use mismatched front/rear tire sizes (like with skinnies, etc), or otherwise have a discrepancy between front and rear wheel speeds.

If it doesn't, check one the bulbs in the high mount brake light, notorious for causing that light because of current differences in the brake circuit that the ABS computer monitors.

I figured it wasn't reading any wheelspeed on the front wheels and that set it off, but I just wasn't sure how to reset. Maybe if it quits snowing here someday soon, I could actually drive it to let it reset itself, but it's never seen snow yet and I'd like to keep it that way. I appreciate all the responses and how quickly they came, great site!
