Red face Emissions legal reality check...

Hello everyone,

Just wanted your opinions on the issues surrounding the build up of a supercharged 2000 Z28 that is intended to be driven on the street. I live in Texas and want it to run mid 10's on that occasional trip to the local or surrounding drags, but want it to pass emissions inspection and DO NOT want a race car.

Please, only serious, educated, and informed opinions.

I know plenty of people pass California's laws with a Procharger, so you should be fine with that in Texas.

One thing you may want to look into is how many codes they allow you to throw in TX. I know here in VA because my car is a 2000 I can have up to 2 codes and still pass(yay year 2000). But definitely ask your emissions folks before you go digging into your wallet

Yeah, you're allowed 1 or 2 codes (I forget) as long as the SES light isn't on. If you go SD, you will have 1 code.

Turbonetics has a cali legal t76 kit for 5th gen camaros... I can't imagine that it would be too difficult to get a turbo to pass emissions in another state with an older car.
