Default Mahle Piston Ring install/orientation for 408??

I just got my block and parts back from the machine shop, they file fit all the rings so I started to assemble the pistons and realized BOTH rings are marked with TOP on them and there is no other dots or marking.

they are standard tension 4.030 +.005 rings PN# 4035MS-15 if that matters

Does the inner bevel go at the top or bottom? Any tips, etc are appreciated, just want to double check everything as it goes together. They came with NO instructions.

Notch on the top ring should point up and the 2nd ring notch should point down.

Thanks, now to figure out which one is the top and which is the bottom! lol One has a white large "TOP-M" on it, the other has a small etched "TOP-M" on it. makes it nice and confusing!

Not sure if it helps but IIRC my Hellfires had the bevels facing out. So the top ring's inside bevel faced towards the valves and the second ring's inside bevel faced toward the crankcase. Also the second ring had noticably less tension to it. The Hellfires were painted to designate top and second but after fitting them into the bores lots of times while filing them the paint wore off and I had to figure it out.

Thanks Bill, One does have a wider gap uncompressed,(I assume more tension) which makes sense and one is more "black" than then other.

I have searched here, as well as online AND Mahles website without much luck. I even emailed Mahle, but so far no reply!
