Im wanting to know what is it about the 6.0 in the g8 gt's that is tuned down to where they only make 355-365 hp at the motor while most other cars with the 6.0 are at 400?
Im going to be looking at getting either a 06-07 cts v or a g8 gt and while I would rather have the cts they may be a little harder to find at the right price and place so I may end up falling back on the G8.
Anyway Im just wanting to know what it would take to get the g8 up to 400 hp. Is it the cam, exhaust, intake? or what that is holding back the hp?

The stock cam and DOD system are garbage. The G8 is a good car otherwise. They make good power with bolt-ons. Mine was faster than a friends CTS-V. Both cars had intake, full exhaust, tune. His car was M6 mine was an auto. I beat him at the track and on the street from a dig and a roll.

Displacement on demand. It deactivates half of the cylinders to save gas like some of the full-size trucks. It is shitty and prone to fail. The lifters fail taking out the cam. Just an excuse to upgrade.

Do some reading on the G8 boards. I loved my G8 and wish I hadnt sold it but I had done a lot of work and replaced all of the weak factory parts including the valvetrain and suspension

Dod. The cam is much smaller than a stock ls2 cam, and the pathetic dod lifters. Ditch the dod ($1300) and enjoy 400rwhp+
Oh and the g8 runs on regular 87 octane. So it is tuned down from the start. A dyno tune prolly net a good 20hp
