I'm having trouble figuring out which cam bearings to get for my engine.

Heres the scoop.

I bought a 6.0 block that was supposedly a GM test engine of some sort...regardless, everything checked out good and I proceeded with machining. Now I am searching for cam bearings and noticing that for the 6.0 blocks, there is 3 different designs/revisions depending on year. I know it is a 99-03 block because it has the long/short head bolts, but other than that I have no indication of what design or revision it requires. The block has no serial numbers etched into it like it should (not taken off either indicating it was stolen) just does not exist.

my question is, is there any other way to decide outside of just buying all 3 sets of cam bearings and deciding from there. is there a specific measurement for the cam bores that I could figure out which bearings I need?

thanks man. i thought I had it figured out because after reading on here, I could get the serial number off the block and the guy at HKE could help me out with it, but there are no serial numbers. so I'm kinda dead in the water. Fortunately, cam bearings are cheap so if it comes down to it, I can buy all 3 sets and send 2 back.

On my '04 LM7 block, the cam bores (without bearings ) are about 2.35", except for #3 which is 2.31".

The correct bearings for me were federal mogul sealed power 1898M.

I first tried 1888M and they were too small.

according to summit's website (which i'm not sure how accurate it is) is the same from 99+. it shows no 1st, 2nd etc revisions.

and I'm glad you measured them without the bearings, I wouldnt want you to gouge the surface of the bearing with your dial bore gauge all in good spirits man. thanks for the help.

I just went thru this last week, didn't know what year block I have, just know it uses different length head bolts. The part # you listed above from summit dis not fit my block. I got the Durobond CH-10 off Amazon.com and they fit perfect.
