Question Clunking when putting it into gear

Hey guys i have a 2002 camaro z28 m6 and i just recently put 4:10 gears in my rear end and changes my drive shaft to a steel one and idk why this is happening but when i first start the car and put it into gear it kind of sounds like it clunks but it only does this when the car first starts. any suggestions should i be worried?

Yep. Sloppy U-joints or a bad tranny mount.

Universal joints. Tranny mount will clunk/thump when you get on it, not just when putting it into gear/disengaging the clutch. Start with u-joints, work to tranny mount, then post back.

If it makes a clunk noise when you put it in to gear from neutral all the time, it could be that you have slack or wear in the axle and/or spider splines. My car does this also and I have been through the driveline several times. I always come back to the excessive play in the axle to spider gear splines.
