Default Anyone have problems venting their steam line into the t-stat housing?

I just got done with a 5.3 swap in my 90 Chevy Suburban. The only trouble i have with it is that it gets hot on the highway. THe radiator is new and is the OE style one for my suburban. It never had any trouble keeping the old 350 cool. Now, with the 5.3, it gets hot on the highway. Only. It never gets about 198 or so in town but on the highway gets up to 22-230 fairly quick. Within a minute or two of getting off the freeway its back down to 195ish. I vented my "steam line" down to the thermostat housing. Im wondering if this could be my problem?
