Default Cloudy Fog Lamp Covers...

My fog lamp covers have become cloudy over the years and it is becoming quite unattractive. Is there a way to polish these and make them clear again or would it be better just to buy a new set? If so anyone have the part numbers handy? Thanks!

They get cloudy (like the headlights) from getting constanly pelted with rocks, sand and grit.. this makes small pits and scratches in the plastic.

Meguires makes a plastic polish but this will only help a little.. I would think you would need to use a VERY fine sand paper to sand down the pits/scratches and then polish it out again.. much like colorsanding paint. Would be quite a bit of work, whether its worth it or not depends on how much new ones cost (and what your time is worth)

You have nothing to loose by trying.. if you screw it up just buy some new ones..

get BLUE MAGIC metal polish (yes, i said metal polish). it comes in either a blue plastic can or a white bottle with a blue sticker. u can get it at vatozone. just rub hard with an old T-shirt, 2-3 coats will make it look brand new. i use this a lot on my light bar, works great. enjoy.

I just got done wet sanding (1500 grit) my headlights and it made them look like new. I tried some plastic polish first but my lights were too messed up. So if the polish doesn't work, sand away like Steve said.
