Why Relocate IAT with mods?

Why Relocate IAT with mods? I see a lot of people relocating the IAT because of the hot start up problem. What is causing this problem of heat soak with heads/cam that was not there before? The car is running the same temp as it did stock yet stock did not have this problem?
