dipstick?

when i blew my other motor it ruined the dipstick and i threw it out i got a universal one and am not sure on where to make the mark for full. anyone know the length?

You could dump in 5 quarts, start the motor to prime the filter and mark the dip stick low line. Then add a quart and mark the high line.

My ls1 (stock F-body oil pan) takes almost 6qts with the tall Delco PF61 filter.
