Default LATCH child safety system

I have a 98 Camaro and am interested in upgrading to the LATCH child safety system. I believe this was manditory starting in 2002. I was wondering if I could simply install these brackets or if I need an entire seat bottom and seat back? I have this on my 03 Cavalier and it makes installing and taking out the child seat very easy and wish to have it in my Camaro. Thanks!

I believe it was 2000+ Fbody's received the upper mounting anchors.

Find some from a parts car/make your own and bolt them in behind the seat.

Lower mounting anchors I believe are a lot harder to install.

The child seat anchors were standard starting in 2000. They are not on the seat but rather on the rear deck behind the seat.

Here's a pic jacked from another thread:

Edit: he beat me to it ^

Ok, so there are no lower anchors between the seat back and seat bottom? I'm guessing even with the upper anchors I would have to use the seat belt to also secure the child seat?

Yep. Seatbelt it in and hook the top to the anchors on the decklid. Been doing it for over 3 years. Sucks to be a passenger though. No legroom lol
