Default fuel tank sending unit

is there a preferred method to eliminate the in tank pump and just use the sending unit as a feul level sensor and pick up for the pump? without buying some super expensive thing to get it done?

i was considering matching up a strainer that will fit the flexible hose and fastening it to the bottom of the well. that way it would still be flexible to allow the tank unit to compress when it is installed. this is going into a 96-up s-10 platform.

Are you planning on running an External pump ?.. You do as you plan. You might look into those Walbro Pickup valves to add some protection, but if you keep the pickup and the return line inside the bucket, you should be ok.
