Decent tire suggestions....275/40/17
Nephew needs new tires on his daily driver. Doesn't do any sort of racing, etc. Who makes a decent tire in the $500-$600 range? I have been looking at Falken,Hankook,Cooper, etc. Thanks

I would recommend the Sumitomo HTR Z 3 . This is a solid performing summer tire with better performance than anything I am aware of in its price range. It falls well into your budget. Let me know if I can help.

I daily drive my car with 275/40/17 Riken Raptor ZR's. They have good rain handling, quiet, and I even like the tread pattern on them, I'm impressed with them for what they are. They are priced pretty good too.

The mountain regions of NC get there share of snow, but in the foothills,we get maybe a foot or two(if lucky) in the winter.
I found some Cooper RS3-A from a local guy who just had the engine and trans go out on his Z28. He had no plans to fix it.For $350 with around 100 miles on them,my nephew was happy.

My bad on the reading. I just saw Western North. Brevity can be a plus in some cases. Yes, they are a bit of a handful. Got caught a couple of times when the weather said flurries that turned out to be inches. All-Season tires barely make them tolerable. 275's are like snow shoes under braking, just skate along the top of the snow. That was the hardest part. Putting the power down was challenging, but much less concerning.
