Budget 5.3 build So I now have enough spare Corvette parts laying around the garage that I got to thinking that building a hopped up junkyard 5.3L might be kind of cool and then finding an old C10 or something to throw it in to use as a daily driver.
The heads I just pulled off the Vette are the factory 243s with dual valve springs and light weight valves from the cam I already had in the Vette. Ive also got the lifters, lifter trays, and pushrods out of the vette that only have 44K miles on them vice 100+ on those in a junkyard 5.3. As for the cam, Ive got an unused GM Hot Cam that I just never used. If I decide to go fuel injected, Ive also go the factory Z06 injectors, although Im thinking it may be cooler to go carbeurated and use FAST's new controller to handle the coil ignition. Further down the road I was thinking that I could even get the heads milled down to 61ccs or so to pick up a bot of compression and a little more power.
Anyway, my buddy and I just hatched this little plan over beers last night and thought Id throw it out there....any input or ideas are always appreciated.
