I am in the process of installing a Comp 54-459-11 (http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=1403&sb=0) LSR cam 231/239 .617/.625 113 in a 2011 Camaro LS3. I have the cam installed at 109* ICL as the cam card says. I have verified this numerous times. I am using the checking springs/dial indicator method to check PTV clearance. I am getting about .041 for intake and .100 for exhaust. I have two specific questions about this situation.
1. I also installed a Cloyes Hex-a-just timing set and was wondering how much I would have to install the cam retarded to get more reasonable numbers like maybe .060 intake and .080 exhaust?
2. How much would this affect the overall performance of this cam. The car has 3.91 gears so they should help with any shift up in the power band.
Any advice on this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Isn't that a cathedral port cam? The specs look like the cam the mags are tossing into their dyno mules.

That is right on par with normal ls3/l92 cam specs for that size cam.

.040" probably isn't the end of the world honestly.

After I installed my GTO I was all flipped and worried about it and after a year and talking with a variety of engine builders... it seemed to work alright. Just be on top of your spring pressure and don't rev it up way outside your powerband IMO.

I would use a Hex-A-Just anyway and install it as per the instructions say.

If you are REALLY wanting to increase your PVC on your intake, I have a blank unmilled LS3 head with some Lindy LS3 intake and exhaust cutters... PM me if you'd like.

What was your clearance in your GTO?

Just curious, but why wouldn't you install tha cam retarded? I did change it to 111* ICL and it went to about .052 intake.

Thanks, but not sure what I'll do yet. Not really in a hurry since car isn't DD.
