Well, you are already using a high quality synthetic. And in general you should pick 1 oil and stick to it (for reasons I wont get into).
If you really want to switch Amsoil or Redline are both probably tops synthetic wise...although I prefer Amsoil since it's PAO/Ester blend base stock vs. Redline which is pure Ester... (ester is great- but better suited to jet engines where the temperatures are greater whereas the blend is more versatile).
We had a '95 Explorer until recently (traded it on a new one)...the motor from the Explorer now has almost 300,000 miles of very heavy use miles on it (the dealerships head tech actually pulled the motor to replace the ailing one in his ranger since it wasnt worth much for them to resell) ... Compression & leakdown are on par with most motors with 1/10 that number of miles... Coincidence or not- it's good enough for me. My rig (Jeep) had 95k miles- Amsoil, and is good as new as well.
Dunno about the noise factor.

I worked at a dealer for 5 years, and do you really think they are going to have the oil lab tested. It looks just like all the other oil. I use Redline 10W40 in my car. Never had any issues with it.

Redline's base oil is not 100% polyol esters though, it does use PAO in it. It's got about 60-65% PAO and 35-40% esters.
