Default Z06 Spyder rims and ctsv breaks: PICS ADDED

Okay I just ordered the wheels from 6le (18 x 9.5 40mm offset) for all 4 corners. I have 4 new bfgs 295 35 18 to m mount. Stock springs with heater hose mod. Ctsv breaks.

Im pretty sure the rims will clear the calipers without spacers. If not my wife/purchasing dept will probably kill me. I'm kinda worried so I figured I would ask around and get some opinions.

Will it clear the breaks?

Will the tires rub?

What do you think?

We will all know for sure as soon as the wheels come in. hopefully this will be helpful for others someday.

295 on an 18" wheel in the front might have some contact, depending on how low and how much travel the suspension has.

But thats just what I think.
I have seen cars with 315s on all corners, but not sure what was done in the front so there's no issues.

Before I process it (just got your order from Jeff), how come you ordered 40mm instead of 56mm?

there is a guy in another thread that ran 56mm and had to use a spacer, so i imagine going with a 40mm would give plenty of space.

6LITEREATER, do you know how much space you have from the deepest part of the Spyder wheel spoke to the stock caliper? Im planning on buying 4 Spyder wheels but I want to know which offset will work best for the CTSV caliper/5th Gen rotors combo.

^^And I just noticed it is for Birds, didn't pay attention... Yeah, the shape of the fenders on Birds you want to use the 40mm (did it on Gil's car, looked better than the 56mm)...

cookba, I'll measure tomm, e-mail me a reminder....

I want the 40mm. It is actually for a camaro. I sold the bird. I have been running 35mm offset (adr msports) and love the stance. In my opinion, the 56mm offset tucks the wheels in way too far. I have a hard time finding wheels in the lower offset. I can't believe more people don't do this. I get so many complements with the msports.

Thanks for asking!

How does the 35mm sit in the fender. Is it flush with the fender ?

It is extremely flush on the front. The rear is the same at the top if the fender. The tire sticks out a little where the rear bumper meets the fender. If you search around you can probably find some pics from the trans am.

By the way tire size was 275 35 18, pro kit springs and heater hose mod. Only rubbed if you carried more than 2 people or hit a big bump. No bfh mods done.

I bought the 40mm offset 18x9.5 spyders from 6litereater a couple of years ago for my Z-28 and am very satisfied with them. I am running them with 275\35 BFG SS AS and have had no issues with rubbing. The 40 mm offset pushes them out to the edge of the fender and they look much better than the tucked in factory stock wheels. I have not put on the CTVS brakes yet, but since this is the stock offset for the Z06, you should have no problems fitting 6 piston calipers under these wheels.

Gils never had the 40mm, when I got the Spyders I put the spacers on the rear to make them a 30mm offset which was perfect

ok i think i like how the 40mm offset pushes the wheel to flush with the fender. anybody have measurements from the spyder wheel spoke to the stock caliper? curious how much space is there for reference before I do a CTSV brake swap too.

Fbodyfan, what is your offset in the rear?

They all have the 40mm offset. The backs tuck a little into the fenders while the fronts are flush. The chrome finish has held up fine so far.

Ask Zeplin what he used to clear the 6 piston calipers. If he can clear them you can clear the 4 piston no problem.

Sorry it took so long. Anyways these things are awesome. Huge upgrade from toasted stock stuff. Stop Tech pads work great. I have been driving the **** out of it and nothing fades. Same brakes everytime even from 120 to 60. This brings too much confidence lol. Next up...konis/springs
