used short block??

Default used short block??

looking at buying a used short block out of a 99 z, said it has a spun main bearing... block is still assembled.. any input on problems to look for..any places to check on the block for cracks.. any input would help thanks

Assume the crank is wasted. If the block and bearing saddle show any discoloration, usually blue, the block's a coffee table.

If it had a spun main I wouldnt bother with it.. some would use an oversized baring but I would find a different used block if it were me

I agree with Ellesone... its not worth the trouble messing with spun bearings, you can purchase a complete 5.3 for around 400bucks and it runs!
