I'll just tell you my experience when I had an lt1. When my opti would go out the car was dead in the sense that it wouldn't crank over at all. It did this three times to me and I sold the car. Again this is just me. Good luck buddy!

I imagine it is the opti. I have troubleshoot very similar issues with mine in the past. I believe the white wire coming into the ICM is reference the coil uses to fire. You can hook your volt meter up to it, have someone crank it over and watch for voltage. It should be on and off. If you see nothing, then the PCM is not seeing any resolution signal from the opti. It could be the pigtail connector going to the opti is bad but in my experience it's usually the opti itself when it comes to no spark conditions.

I may be a little off on my techincal details. I'm sure shoebox or some of the more seasoned LT1 guys can clarify for certain but what I said should put you in the right ballpark for troubleshooting and diagnosing a bad opti with certainty instead of just blindly replacing parts.

Good luck!
