Default bypass speedo issues with a 93' t56 swap

I have a 93' camaro with a 700r4 and I am in the middle of swapping to a 97' t56 which has an electronic speedo. Is there any way I can bypass this issue without doing a pcm swap.

My thoughts: aftermarket speedo( straight to transmission), or some sort of converter box possibly?

All you have to do is change the connector(GM 12101899) for the speed sensor. Both vehicles use an electronic speedo, which mean both use a VSS.

I just wasn't sure if it was going to be simple, since 93' is the oddball year.

Default 700r4 to r56

I saw you mentioned at the end of your question if you could hook it strait to your speedo, does anyone know if you can do that? I'm going from an 86 monte carlo ss (mechanical speedo) to 94 t56 with an electronic speedo, and I don't even know where to start. Can I hook a speedo strait to it? Do I need a special computer, what could I do?

I don’t know if they make it anymore but they used to sell a retrofit T56 tail shaft with the speedo gear instead of the VSS.

i had one in my ‘83 Camaro when I went 6speed. From there it was a matter of selecting the right colour plastic gear to match the rear end gearing/ and tire size. The Speedo was accurate to within .75-1.5 mph at most speeds.

i imagine it would somewhat pricey but way simpler and more reliable than a box that converts the VSS signal to an electric motor to drive the cable .

It might be worth contacting tremec to see if it still exists.
