Default ECM plugged?

What would happen if you tried to start the car with your ECM not connected? The issue I think I am having is that I was doing some alternator work and decided to do the traction control mod. The wife came out yelling about something so I stopped what I was doing. I decided not to do the mod at the time and just finish my original plan. Well dumb me. I forgot to bolt the ECM down. It wouldn't start. The fact that my ECM was not connected, would that distroy anything? And does that control the fuel pump because I had no pressure from the lines? Thanks and I know this is a dumb post. :-)
