Default Hotcam quality issue from GM?

Hey guys, I thought a read a post a while ago that somebody said GM sent a batch of hotcams out without being heat treated or something and it messed up a lot of engines? Is this true, or is it something else, I'm not sure? Do any of you guys know anything about what I'm talking about? If so, how can I check mine to make sure mine isn't defective? It was purchased July 2003 if that helps at all. Thanks a lot guys!

It was that long ago? So I guess the hotcam I purchased in July 2003 wasn't affected? Any info would be great! Thanks!
