I thought the 5.3s had better heads also?
with ls9 head gaskets and arp headbolts I assume to get that level of hp?

im running 706 heads on 18psi put down 658rwhp and 714tq through a t56.

OP, why do you ask? I have heard of these head cracking under boost, but thought it was pretty rare.

Is there a better stock head option out there for boosted 5.3's?

people seem to be getting good results with the 799 heads. i think they come on the newer 5.3's.

I run stock "706" casting heads with LS9 gaskets, Patriot duals, ARP head studs, and a PT88 in my 01 GMC c1500. On 15.5lbs it made 660 rwhp. I'm running 18lbs on the street now. If I could find better heads and gain some compression I would.

the fairmont and 88gt have 5.3s with 706 heads

the 88gt made 607rwhp through a th400 last night on 22lbs of boost.
my fairmont did 585rwhp on 18psi thru a 4l80e.

the 706s dont seem like the best head IMO but they work haha

im using the same as you OP. I hope that I can make well over 700rwhp on my setup. I plan to be stock setup heads with TU1 cam, ls2 front cover conversion and big turbo.
ls9 heads gaskets and arp studs. But will see what happens.

Got 706s, but dont have dyno numbers. Car had 862s, but thet had that little recess on the side that made them leak, so I used the 706.

I know 317 will drop the CR to low to 8.5:1 but aren't the 862 and 706 casting the same. That should keep th CR at about 9.5:1 so its not a dog at the low end.
