Cuts out at 3500 rpm in third gear at wot?

My brothers 2002 SS cuts out in third gear and up under hard acceleration at about 3500 rpm, any ideas on where to start?

Its a six speed car too with basic boltons, 4.10's

I'd say look at the tune. Does it die or is it hitting the rev limiter?

Looking in to my crystal ball... I see a K&N or other oiled air filter on the car... Am I correct? If so, I'd start by cleaning the MAF.
