Default Axle & axle bearing ???

My axle bearings started to growl about 3 months ago but I've been to busy to even have time to replace them. Is there any way that the axle shaft itself can get damaged? I'm taking time off in the next 2 weeks to replace them. And as for parts I already have new GM bearing, fluids and seals.

Yep, axle needs to be inspected before a new bearing is installed.

Any more help. Anyone have any luck and was able to reuse their axles?

There are "repair bearings" that ride at a little different spot on the axle...DO NOT USE THEM. Most of the time they don't fit, and if they do fit it can be hard or impossible to get your c clips on. If you end up needing new axles I have a set with 28k DD miles I trashed my rear unknowingly trying to get the repair bearings in...and back out.

Yep as mentioned the axle itself can get damaged. Been there, done that. If there is any pitting or roughness at all, replace them. If you don't you'll just burn your new bearings. In my case I got a used axle from someone on here.

And as rabid weasel said, don't even bother with the "repair" bearings.
