Default instaling rear coolant crossover pipe

02 T/A WS6

Is the only way to remove coolant plugs from rear of heads and install coolant crossover pipe, is to drop tranny x-member and lower tranny? That is the only way i see doing.

Removing intake was my 2nd choice, was trying to avoid purchase of gaskets, and possiable broken are stripped bolts, and the remove & install of other components. But more likely not to have leaks from the coolant pipe by removing intake. Thanks for the advice.
