Default picking an engine

Hi guys! First time posting in this section. I'm looking to start a conversion on my '78 El Camino. I have been reading a lot and have a pretty good game plan at this point.

5.3 or 6.0 from a truck
Modify an ECM or run an aftermarket depending on cost
overdrive trans
12 bolt rear
TBI fuel tank with Walbro pump and Corvette regulator/filter.

I've found an engine kind of near me for a great price. It is a 6.0L from a '99 Chevy truck with 160K miles. It is complete from throttle body to the pan. All the accessories are there as are the coils, injectors manifolds even the fan (not sure about computer yet)!

What I've read says its all Iron and has a longer crank.
Its less than $500 so is it a good buy? from what I've read the crank is the limiting factor so I'd have to run an old style trans or a 4L80 right? Also I know these engines last a while but is this one too high of miles? I'm sure I could talk myself into it if I wanted but what do you guys think?
Also could I just buy a new crank or just use the accessories on another 6.0L or 5.3L from a newer truck?

At 160k id be looking to do a rebuild. The price is cheap enough, and I dont know about the crank being longer.
