Default tires with a TC?

I have a 2001 Z28 A4 with 2.73 gears. My only performance mods are lid and filter and magnaflow catback. I am looking at buying a 3400 stall 2.0 STR tourque converter. Will I be OK with street tires with this setup or will I NEED drag radials. Need being the important word here. I understand that drag radials might work better, but will street tires be OK? Right now I have the stock 16" rims, but will be buying a set of 17" rims soon and wanted to buy the 275/40/17 Kumho 712s to go on them. will I be able to get traction for daily driving? I do have BMR weld-on SFC already installed on my car too.

I do not take my car to the track.

thanks for the help

you will be able to get traction with street tires with any converter, you just have to know when to step on the gas and when not to. As for that converter you will probable need nitto drag radials , They are very good tires for the money and get great wear miles .
