Default Test Firing Motor

I bought an ls1/t56 combo for a motor swap project, and would like to test fire the motor to verify it works properly before my warranty expires on it (5 months remaining). Since it will likely not be in the car before the warranty expires, i wanted to test fire it on an engine stand. If I can avoid hauling it to an engine dyno I would like to do so. Please note this is little more than a proof of proper function - I won't be running the motor for much longer periods of time than it takes to bring it up to a temperature sufficient for checking cylinder compression.

I know I will need to delete the VATS from the computer, is there anything else that would keep it from running that should be deleted?

What do I need on the relay / fuse side? I was going to hook up a battery and trigger the starter with a switch.

Any other tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

You should have no problem doing it the way you stated unless I am missing something, hopefully someone else who has done this can chime in.
