Default How Noisey/Loud are extrenal pumps?

Im a newbie and have decided to start stock piling parts for my projects. 75 Pontiac Grandville and a 75 Caprice, both are 5000lbs convertible so they will never see the track just cruising cars. I keep reading about folks saying that external fuel pumps are loud. Any help would be great, Im searching for two plastic impala tanks after reading write ups about using them instead of pricey after market tanks.....

I have a A1000 mounted to my trunk pan and it is noisy but not as much as the Holley black pump that pwered the BBC. I don't mind the noise though. Not unbearable.

Depends on a lot of different things, like how it is mounted, the type of mount isolators, how much sound deadening the car has, the size of the pump (bigger = louder) as well as the type of pump (gerotor vs. rotary vane).

I will also add the noise depends on how low you can mount it (lower = quieter), the size and type of fuel lines and how they are isolated, and believe it or not the type of prepump filter you have. The noise on mine went down a good bit when I went to a lower pressure drop prefilter.

Default pump noise

I have a walbro 255 mounted at the back of my car and I dont think it's all that noisy, AN-8 feed to corvette filter/regulator AN-8 to fuel rails. I did buy the insulated mounting kit with the pump which I think helps some.

Only time I hear my walbro 255 is when I hit the key at initial startup and I'm glad I do it lets me know it's working. I here it kick on for 2 seconds then off. I then bump the key and see fires every time.

Default pumps

I run a bosch 044 pump. Awesome quality, quiet, reliable as they get. Beware of knockoffs.

I replaced the stock pump in my Camaro with a Delphi unit and it is louder I think than the Holley Red I have mounted to the rear frame on my El Camino.
