Default Cleaning outside of aluminium block?

My 5.3 has some white corrosion on the outside of the block and heads, any suggestions of what to use to bring it back to fresh alum.? Mag wheel cleaner? Like to get it cleaned up before swapping oil pans.
TIA, Jim

I use WD-40 and a wire wheel, but it tends to put a light sheen on the aluminum.

Many have used different products, Simple Green, Aluminum Mag wheel cleaner, wire wheel and brushes, etc.. They all work to a point, just some better than other.. other will ping in with there recommendation.

But I just wanted to give you a word of caution ... make sure you Raise off the clearn thourhtly.. else you will end up with them White Corrosion and stains.

I myself have used Simple Green, WD40 and some wire wheel and brushes.

I just used carb cleaner and scotch brite, had great results. In fact the scotch brite pads worked a lot better than the wire wheel.
