Need some wheel guidance--17X8 with 5" backspace, will they work?

Need some wheel guidance--17X8 with 5" backspace, will they work? I recently bought a set of anodzied Billet Specialties Street Lites from a board member. The wheels are new in the box and came from Midwest Chassis as a F body specific set of 17X8's and 17X11's. The 11's are 7.75" backspace which seems about right but the fronts are 17X8 with 5" backspace which I am concerned is not enough backspace considering a stock set of 16X8's have 6" backspace. I test fit them on the car before mounting tires on them and they definatley stick out more than the 17X9.5 Zr1 wheels that are on the car now, but is it too much? I called BS and they said they would have spec'ed 5.5"bs which is the most they can do on a 17X8 wheel but 6" bs would have fit better.
