Default My 97 is @ Tick for a build. Few pics inside.

Recently purchased a 97 30th SS for a very fair price. Car owns a salvage title due to a rebuild in 1998. Looking to transform my 99 into my autocross/race car when I return from Germany in 2015 and build this one as a show/street cruiser now as it is in the states. This car will also be my Wife's ride when we are driving both.

Here are some pics. What would you build with about 8,500.00

Real nice SS!

$8500 was my entire build + the BMR tubular suspension.

Depends on if you're doing most of the work or if you are having a shop do it. If you are having a shop do it then you are going to be spending a lot on their labor charges. Probably somewhere in the $90 to $110/hr range. Don't tell them how much you have or they'll gladly find ways to spend it all. You might be able to swing heads/cam for that, but if you're going to do most of this yourself I'd do a leakdown to make sure the short block is good. If it is get a AI or GTP heads/cam/supporting mods combo.

for 8500- I'd pull the original drivetrain(and store it) and drop in a LS.

Lee, good to hear from you man. Yeah i've thought of that. Thought of a stock cube LS2/3 with a few bolt ons/ rebuilt trans/new clutch and a set of decent heads. It is going to be really hard to get it done for 8500 though. Still need brakes/accessories the list goes on! It is the game we play though and in the end I will be very happy.
