Default Boss 302 vs 04 Cobra

So I come home today and my 15 y/o son wanted to show me something he made. It was from a little puppy kick at the track a few weeks back. He made the video and was all pumped about it. Looks decent to me and I killed the Boss.

It is a real boss. I looked it over afterwards because he ran like a 12.9X@114mph. I know it isn't a super time for that but it has dark Shinoda decals along with the Boss ones too. He was on radials and learning how to drive it still.

Whats this shinoda stuff? Was the car black with a red roof? Because the only black boss in 2012 was a laguna seca which had a bunch of red all over it. Red spoiler... red roof...red grill

It was black with dark gray decals on it. I have never heard of that stuff either and was curious too. I looked online and found little info about the Shinoda upgrades. I think it is just small bolt-ons or something nothing major. I actually saw the guy on the street two days ago and he turned off very quickly. He was boasting about the whole red key thing at the track.

My guess is it was a GT. Its missing too many things to be a boss. But regardless. You would have beaten either one of them.. So good win

Damn Evan, you were right. I guess Shinoda converts GT's into what they call a Boss 302. No clue why he said it had a red key as well unless they do some hokeyness with their package. I found him posting on a local forum. This was in his signature:
AMR Charcoal 19x8.5f 19x9.5r, michelin pilot super sports 255f 285r, eibach pro kit 1.5" r 1" f, lca's, adjustable panhard bar, Koni oranges, front and rear Eibach swaybars, frpp 4.10 gears, auburn hp limited slip, aluminum 1 piece driveshaft, spec stage 2 clutch, hurst short throw shifter, BBK shorty headers (i know, I know), Magnaflow tru x pipe, Magnaflow cat back, Steeda cai, BBK 85mm tb, Boss 302 Racing Intake Manifold, Bama tune, black horizontal billet upper and lower grill. It's the first serialized 2012 Shinoda Boss. 12 001

I had never heard of that stuff and it was kind of odd. I saw the intake then asked him about it and he was very proud of his car I guess.

Nice. And the BBK stainless shorties are actually pretty nice pieces. Grabbed me about 10whp over the stock tri-y shorties while still using the stock cats. And its possible he has the red key for it. The red key is out for the GTs too now.

Question

LoL, that wasn't even a race...I think the win light was already on within the first 30 feet

Hope your son gets some good video of us when we run at Rockingham. I'm already practicing my LS1tech excuses for when you beat me

Pretty much full bolt-on 5.0 and it's running...

According to the interwebz it should be running low 11's at 125mph

At this point i think we all know what a full bolt on 5.0 can do. There are some cars that will run bad... and some that will run good. All cars are like this. And that car really isnt full bolt on if you compare it to the power it would gain with longtubes, catless X and a real tune. Ive had the track key...it was a joke. Nothing changed in the wot tables. Just made the car more ROAD RACE friendly..straight lined no faster. The tru x pipe is an after cat x pipe and still runs the stock cats. That cars exhaust is exactly like mine.. it was done like that to keep the warranty of running stock cats/emissions. But then i tuned the car and decided it was time to buy longtubes. My car has another 25-30whp in the exhaust. I figure the GT has 20-25 and another 15 in the tune. The GTs average about a 15whp gain and the bosses pick up less then 10 with a tune. Bosses have 2 degrees added timing over the GTs from the factory. Either way... packy spanked the car in the vid.

A 2.3 whipple cobra beats a n/a 5.0 and people are surprised? Your cobra is putting down more and is lightier, I don't know how he thought he had a chance. Put a whipple on the 5.0 and re-run them for a real race.

Putting down more power, yes. Lighter, no they are close to the same weight.
