Default New 1997 SS

I searched but didn't really find anything, but here's my question.
So I know my SS came from SLP with there exhaust but i was thinking about updating with headers and Y but would i show any gains? I'm just not sure how free flowing there stuff already is cause if that's pretty good i will spend the money else where. Thanks Guys as if you couldn't tell newbie here so be gentle if i missed this on the search. Thanks!

The SS stuff from SLP still had stock manifolds. Obviously any header upgrade in any way is a step up. Definitely go to long tubes and a full cat-back. Expect about 20whp.

If it has 2OTL (Two exhaust pipes on the left side of the car) that is one of the best sounding and best flowing cat back exhausts out there. No need to change anything from the I-pipe back. You will see significant gains, long tubes, or shorties if you get rid of the cats. Stick with a primary header that is larger than 1 5/8".

Very true on the cat back but didn't all 97's have the cone of silence? I'd pull that muffler off and take that piece out of the exhaust. Sound will increase slightly but flow will be way better.
