Smile Hey there, newbie needs some guidance

Hey guys,

I'm one part of a motorsportsteam active in europe (mostly germany). We are getting ready to start going the right path -> LS-engine powered
After having quite some issues and reaching the natural limits of BMW-engines we're hoping to finally be able to get what we really need out of one of those great engines in our chassis.

Since we're completely new to american engines we need some serious help on this:

Our goal is to get a reliable setup at somewhere around 450bhp at constantly high revs an g-forces on track.

From reading up we kinda feel like the LS3 might be the best guess since it seems to not need to many modifications for what we have planned.

Sooooo, can you guys help us with the following questions considering we are (as most teams) on a limited budget to get started:

1. Is there a better concept then going stock LS3 with some mods on oilpan/drysump?

2. Which manual transmisson will take the hardest beating eg. in drifting and do they come with different ratios?

3. Does it make sence to look for a used engine / what are the crucial parts or weaknesses of this engine?

4. Where can we find an engine (and get it shipeed to germany) for a reasonable price?

Thanx in advance for every advice!!
