Up for sale is my 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This thing has been my pride and joy for the past 3.5 years but it is time for someone else to maximize it's potential, I have lost interest and it isn't even close to where it could and should be. Here are the basics; it's a 2002 with around 109,000 miles on the clock, an iron 408 from HKE, a Strange Engineering 12-bolt rear axle, T56 transmission, tuned by Pat G. to make 447 RWHP and 475 RWTQ. I do not have to sell it but I am going to price it to sell, $10,000. Also, I am not interested in any trades, sorry. I am sure I am forgetting a few things but that should be just about everything on this car. I took it to the track after the 408 install but let off before the 1/4 running a 12.67 @ 104MPH due to a poorly lit track and finish line. I wasn't able to get any more runs in as I broke the stock driveshaft on launch on the next pass. I tried again this past September but the alternator was failing and shorting out so I was unable to get any clean passes and they told me I needed a helmet to run again. I haven't been back but I am sure with the right driver, this thing has mid 11's in it. It is a heavy pig at around 3700 lbs with a half tank of gas.

As far as the engine set-up is concerned, it was originally an MS4/799/LS1 combo until I replaced the short-block on a budget. I intended to upgrade the intake, heads, and cam down the road to better optimize the performance as this combo is definitely choked (pulling a small vacuum @ WOT - 6K) but the low end torque and even the choked power is an absolute blast on the street. You can just hammer the throttle in any gear at any RPM and it just plants you in the seat and takes off. I was/am more than satisfied with the power and delivery that I never got around to upgrading.

Disclosure/Negative mumbo-jumbo: The car was hit in the left rear before I bought it, that's how the previous owner got the 12-bolt. I haven't noticed any ill side-effects in the 3 years of driving it, car drives straight and true. In the summer of 2010, we had a nasty rain storm here in Houston and on my way home from work I noticed the feeder off of 610 was flooded. I could just barely see the top of the left curb and I knew it was too high to pass so I decided to park it until the water receded. Well there was traffic behind me and there was a parking lot on the right at a storage place so I took a quick right to head up the driveway. Well what I didn't know at the time was that the road gets lower towards the driveway and I hit that big puddle at speed and water flew straight into the snorkels of the ram-air hood. It stalled half way up the driveway and hydro-locked the LS1. No water got near the interior, just straight into the intake and I have quite a few friends that can vouch for that. This is how I got the HKE 408 and I just wanted to give full disclosure to any potential buyers. The interior is clean; the dash isn't cracked, minimal rattles, no rips/tears in the seats. There are a few coke stains from the previous owner but nothing that inhibited me 3.5 years ago, plus the new mats cover them up quite well. The exterior paint is clean; I would say 7/10, consistent with the age of the car and a daily driver. I have included the major flaws in pictures in the album. Mostly a few light scratches and a sharp dent by the antenna. Lastly, the EBCM is on the fritz. I have replaced it once and all that did was turn off the ABS lights which occasionally come on, the ABS system still works. The traction control system, however, does not work whenever the ABS lights come on but, as most owners do, I turn off T/C whenever I start the car.

Seems like a good deal. The car definately has a lot of power left in it. Power is laying over at 5300 rpm. You should be abe to pull another 1000 rpm easy.

Thanks, I got the plastic bezel from 6LE and the offset angle rings from Autometer.
