Default Questions about a widebody kit?

Hello everyone!

I am new here and have a few questions.

I am the original owner of a 1997 SS Camero and after sitting on it this long stock I have decided to start upgrading the car.

The main thing I would love to add is a wide body kit like this one.

I have searched and searched and a lot of threads seem outdated and I still can seem to find anywhere I can buy one.

One idea is I have a lot of fiberglass knowledge so if I can get something close I could modify it to be exactly what I want.

The next thing I would like to upgrade is the stock exhaust manifolds.

I have the full SLP exhuast package that I love but I was hoping I could get something that adds a little HP.

Last question...

Any parts from a 2001 corvette that would make a nice upgrade?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Have you tried VFN.com? They sell alot if fiberglass parts for F-Bodies amd tons of more cars they are sponsors here in LS1 Tech. I would do long tube headers for a great increase of HP, steinless steel should be good, and as far as your exhaust goes check out Texas Speed Performace, they sell great exhaust Are you looking towards true duals? Y pipe?

For the corvette full bolts on is the first step depending what your goals are. Check out the Corvette forums, there you will find alot if things that you can do to a Vette

Such as bigger cam, headers, exhaust, heads etc etc

Thank you for the reply.

I don't want to change the whole exhaust. I love the sound of the SLP exhaust but the something to replace the stock exhaust manifolds is a nice change.

No I was asking if any of the 2001 corvette parts are upgrades for my camero. I have a friends who is parting out his corvette due to a bad accident.

Yup was a Z28, swapped in a bow tie v6 (the old NASCAR engines) for weight advantages. Lots of crazy stuff done to that car!

Thanks. That sounds awesome. Would have loved to watch that on the track.

Want to throw another questions out there.

If you were the original owner of an 1997 SS camero (Black) would you cut into the fenders to get a wider look like the pic above.

I was hoping to find a kit that offered that look but...

....thought it would look lame because if it was a kit then wider tires would likely still not fit under there so the illusion wouldn't work

....doing it the right way. Cutting into the fender and flaring the fenders would obviously change the fact that its original and probably effect it long term value.

Let me know what you guys think.

I would contact a good body shop who has done custom work, show them what you want to do, and have them do custom fenders for you.
